1997.015.02

Pudlo Pudlat was born in Nunavut, in 1916. When Pudlat was in his 40s, he moved from his home of Cape Dorset to Kiaktuuq, to recover from tuberculosis. There he met Inuit art pioneer James Houston, who inspired Pudlat to begin his career in art. His preferred medium is a combination of acrylic wash and coloured pencils. Pudlat has completed over 4000 drawings and 200 prints.
"I only draw what I think, but sometimes I think the pencil has a brain too."
