Katharine McLennan (1892-1975), the youngest daughter of
L.B. McLennan, developed and nurtured many interests and
causes during her lifetime, most of which were dedicated to
the betterment of her community. After the death of her
mother in 1912, she assisted her father with his extensive
research of the Fortress of Louisbourg. After WWII, she
resumed her passion for Louisbourg, where she financed
and managed the museum, serving as volunteer Curator for
over twenty years. During this time, K. McLennan played a
critical role in the reconstruction of the Fortress of
Louisburg. Additionally, K. McLennan was involved with the
Cape Breton Regional Library Board, the Victorian Order of
Nurses, the Red Cross, the Old Sydney Society, the Miners'
